MARIA CASADEVALL

Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and with Catalan ancestry, Maria has lived in many countries that have given her the rich experiences and understanding of local cultures and languages, like English and French. While in Gold Coast, Australia, she stayed in cities like Byron Bay and Melbourne. In France, she lived in Paris and Montpelier and in England, she worked at AMAW London with Anthony Meild.

In the city of Sao Paulo, she graduated as an actress with in 2010 and began her career as a professional actress in Os Satyros Theater Company. Maria has participated in internationally recognized productions, such as “Roberto Zucco” (2009) and “Hipoteses Para o Amor e a Verdade” (2010).

Under the direction of the same company, she acted in two local productions “Criança Cidadã” (2012) and “A Nossa Gata Preta e Branca” (2014). Since 2011, she has participated in major TV broadcast productions in Brazil, such as two soap operas, “Amor à Vida”(2013), for which she was nominated for Best New Actress; and “I love Paraisopolis” (2015), for which she was featured as Woman of the Year by GQ Magazine.
Further, she starred in two seasons of the comedy series Lili, A Ex (2014/2016). More recently, Maria took part in the two mini-series: “Os Dias Eram Assim” and “Vade Retro” in 2017.

Maria’s film experience includes her starring in the movies “Depois de Tudo” (2015), “Mulheres Alteradas” (2018), “A Garota da Moto” (2020). For international streaming productions, she starred in two seasons (respectively) of Island of Iron (2018/2019) on Glogoplay, and Netflix’s Girls From Ipanema (2019/2020). For the latter, she was nominated as Best Actress by Sao Paulo’s Association of Art Critics (known as: APCA). In her personal life, Maria Casadevall engages in social and political advocacy in favour of human rights and women’s rights.
